Private Equity Finance Lead

Founders Helping Founders

Building on our experience of acquiring, growing and exiting businesses, we are exploring the establishment of an Irish-headquartered private equity firm and an initial fund targeting €20 to €40 million. Our proposed strategy centres on acquiring and consolidating SME Irish businesses, with an initial focus on business that provide services to utilities, especially within frameworks.

We are seeking an experienced finance professional to work with the founding team in assessing, shaping and launching this venture as a key member of a LLP, General Partner.

The person we are looking for:

Ideally, you will be a qualified accountant who has held a senior finance role within a private equity general partner, investment manager or comparable investment business. Relevant backgrounds could include Fund CFO, Finance Director, Financial Controller or a senior fund finance role with substantial responsibility.

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience of:

  • Establishing or operating private equity funds, preferably using limited partnership structures.

  • Fund and management-company budgeting, including management fees, GP commitments and carried interest.

  • Capital calls, distributions, investor reporting and fund performance measurement.

  • Acquisition modelling, financial due diligence, debt financing and investment appraisal.

  • Portfolio valuation and financial monitoring of investee companies.

  • Working with fund administrators, auditors, legal and tax advisers and external alternative investment fund managers (AIFMs).

Experience of a first fund launch, smaller company acquisitions or a consolidation strategy would be especially valuable. You would have the support of GIG members who have experience in this area such as Pauline Tully and Stephen Bell.

The opportunity:

You would work directly as a fellow GIG’s member to develop the financial and operating model for the proposed firm and fund, assess launch costs and viability, and help establish the processes required for investment evaluation and investor reporting.

As the venture progresses, the role would extend to supporting acquisitions and overseeing fund finance and portfolio reporting.

We bring business ownership and operating experience, capital, an investor network and access to acquisition opportunities. We are seeking someone who can complement this with direct experience of how a private equity firm operates financially.

We welcome confidential discussions with interested parties and would also consider an initial advisory or fractional role, with the potential to develop into a longer-term executive or founding partnership position. Remuneration and any potential equity or carried-interest participation would be discussed according to experience, contribution and the agreed role.
